OpenEnvoy is Driving Inclusivity and Equality for Women in Tech

Women-in-Tech_cover-1

In recognition of women’s history month, we connected with our very own Samantha Moran, Head of Customer Success at OpenEnvoy to learn about the importance of diversity, representation, and inclusivity in tech.

According to Deloitte, in 2022 large global technology firms will reach 33% overall female representation in their workforces. While there have been improvements in the opportunities available for women in tech, there is still progress to be made. With this in mind, OpenEnvoy is working to help close the gender gap for women in tech.

The Importance of Diversity in Tech

OpenEnvoy is joining other high-profile tech players in creating an equitable work environment with the majority of the team represented by women. Research shows that diverse companies function better, are more innovative, and have higher levels of employee engagement than companies that do not focus on diversity.

Despite this data, women remain underrepresented in the tech industry, and this lack of representation can hinder women’s ability to succeed. A 2021 Women in Tech report showed that women were four times more likely than men to see gender bias as an obstacle to promotion, and many had experienced gender bias at some point in their careers.

OpenEnvoy’s leadership team recognizes the power of a diverse workforce and uplifts its female team members. “I love working at OpenEnvoy because advocacy is highly valued. This company wants to hear how we can do our best for our customers and employees. My voice and willingness to provide feedback is celebrated," says Samantha Moran, Head of Customer Success.

Key Takeaways From a Female Leader in Tech

Samantha explained, “My advice concerning being a woman in tech is to find your superpower. You have to push past harmful narratives about women and particular skill sets or traits that limit success in the workplace. I am a big believer that everyone has a superpower and that they can use their talent to bring value to their roles and the company. If you do not know what yours is, drop what you are doing and figure it out!

My superpower is advocacy. In customer success, I advocate for our customers. I always consider what their success means for the success of our business. As a leader, I advocate for and empower my team because they work hard and give their best.

I was not always an amazing advocate. I can recall many instances where someone wanted to brush off my feedback. While sometimes our instincts can default to listening to push back, I chose to persist. With repetition and high stakes, I became a fierce advocate.

In terms of representation, I see my female coworkers bringing their best to work. It is a key factor in our success and rapid growth! I am proud to be at a company that celebrates the differences that make our team members unique,” Samantha adds.

To support women in tech, leading companies are creating a clear trajectory for the career advancement of women. Representation is critical for driving the development of innovative technology, and OpenEnvoy is committed to making space for women to have an equal opportunity to succeed in the industry.
